CECED has been active in energy management and intelligent networks for more than a decade. Its members have significantly invested in developing a vision of the smart house with interoperable domestic appliances and they continue to steer innovation toward linking energy demand management with communication technology. Energy management with smart appliances Results indeed show that massive diffusion of energy management applications brings significant benefits at national level thanks to reduction of energy losses on the grid.
Contributions to technical standardisation
CECED is also involved in high-level strategic discussions with the European standardisation bodies to coordinate and deliver normalised solutions and integration in systems, networks and management of the intelligent home.
In parallel, the communication protocols prepared by the CHAIN platform (CECED Home Appliances Interoperating Network) paved the way for compatibility among large appliances as the group’s conclusions gave birth to a European Household appliances interworking standard (EN 50523).
Political discussion
As intelligent products and services issues come up on the energy agenda, CECED members call upon all energy using clusters in the house to join forces to develop new tools and concepts so that this technology can spread and the benefits can be shared among industry, consumers and the grid.
